MEETINGS: 2nd Tuesday of the month throughout the school year. Meetings are at 6:30 pm in Konsowski Hall unless otherwise noted.


What's Coming up:

JOE CORBI’S FUND RAISING

St. Florian Parent Teacher Club is sponsoring a Joe Corbi’s Fund Raiser which will include items for sale such as: Pizza kits – Soft pretzels – Cookie dough – Pies (already made) – Cheesecake – Calzones (pepperoni and Philly cheese steak) – all items are moderately priced – you can find pamphlets/order forms in the plastic folders at all of the church doors - please return all orders and money to the rectory or school office by Friday, April 16th. There will be no orders taken past this date. Please note there will be prizes for the top selling students, so if you know of a student add their name to your order form or you may wish to designate a certain grade(pre-K – 8) on your form. Family Fun Night

Friday – April 23rd - St. Florian Parent Teacher Club – we will be attempting a new kind of fun in which we explore the various ethnic cultures that make up our great school family – one of our ideas is to bring a cultural dish to share with the group and various other ideas are in the planning stages – more information to follow.

3rd Annual Flower Sale

St. Florian Parent Teacher Club will be holding our 3rd Annual flower sale on Saturday, May 8th – time to be announced at a later date – please watch the bulletin for more information and be sure to check the plastic folders located near all church doors for order forms in the near future. 
 

A Battle of the Bands

St. Florian School Board is hosting a Battle of the Bands on Friday, June 4th – we will be looking for High-school aged bands to compete – we are also looking for anyone interested in being on a planning committee – if you are interested please contact the school office at 773-646-2868 – of Ken Mooney at 773-646-2036 

 

 


What happened so far:

The Parents' Club voted unanimously to change the name of the club from Parents' Club to Parent Teacher Club as the teachers have shown interest in joining forces with the parents in an endeavor to better our school.

Our meetings this year will be on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm usually in Konsowski Hall but sometimes in the Parish meeting room upstairs of Konsowski hall.

PTC hosted a BooHoo/WooHoo Breakfast specifically for those parents of Pre-K and Kdg students to offer a shoulder to lean on that very first day of school without mom or dad. It went well for our first time attempting this

The Annual Ice Cream Social was Fri. Sept 4th to kick-off Labor week-end and to celebrate the

Spaghetti dinner was Sat. 9/12 and it was quite the success we may have to  host another one soon!

September 22, 2009 -- Fun Run.
The children will be looking for sponsors to pledge them as they are challenged by The Get Movin' Crew to run a series of exercises through as obstacle course on school grounds - the yard next to the rectory all are welcome to come out and cheer our students on - all children are being asked to reach a goal of $50.00 - you can pledge any child over the internet via paypal - please call the school for more details.

We are still seeking volunteers to assist with childrens activities.

October 17, 2009 -- Craft/Vendor Fair

October 19, 2009 -- Red Ribbon Week
We will have a guest speaker at the school on Mon.10/19 who is a living witness to living life to its fullest even when you may not want to or think you can. John Siciliano is not only a personal friend but a truly inspirational soul who at the prime of his life, age 21, was involved in an automobile accident that spared his life but took his leg - now living as am amputee, John will share his story from this major set-back to success - we hope to encourage our school children to always follow their dreams and to stay focused on their goals - the only way to achieve this is to never allow yourself to give into the peer pressures you become surrounded with in life. I encourage any and all to come listen to this very motivational adn inspirational journey through one man's life.

October 24, 2009 Hot Lunch
We wrap up Red Ribbon Week with a Parent Teacher Club sponsored hot lunch - with a special dessert item on our menu - ice cream sundaes.

October 20-November 6, 2009 Yankee Candle Holiday Sale

St. Florian PTC will be hosting a Yankee Candle Holiday Sale!!! The sale dates will be 10/20/09 until 11/6/09. We will earn 40% profit from this sale. If you need a catalogue and/or order form - please contact the school office 773-646-2868 or Lynne Mooney 773-646-2036 - Catalogues and order forms are also available in the back of church.

November 20, Family Fun Reading Night

Friday - November 20th -  the PTC will host our first Family Fun Reading Night - we will have 2 guest readers - a "book swap" and a craft table where we will be asking the children and anyone in attendance who would like to participate to create a picture of their favorite thing that they are most thankful for - these pictures will be transformed into a "quilt" that we would like to present to the residents of the Senior Suites on Avenue O and we would like our Caring Chilidren's Club to present it - Our theme will be Thanksgiving and hopefully our "Picture Quilt" will serve as a reminder of the Catholic school presence in our community. Admission/Entrance fee to this event will be 1 non-perishable item per person (adult or child) that will be donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

December 7-9, 2009: Santa's WorkShop

December 7-9th will bring about Santa's Workshop where the school children will have an opportunity to do their Christmas shopping for various family members - we will have our "shop" in the library and encourage any and all to come out and "shop" with us or if you would like to volunteer an hour or two to help the children shop - or work with the parents please contact the school office 646-2868 or Lynne Mooney 646-2036 - All are welcome to be one of Santa's elves and help make this day fun for the kids. Our shop hours Mon and Tues will be from 8:30 - 2:00 and Wed from 8:15 until 11:30 -

December. 17, 2009

PTC hot lunch - we will be having Chicken Strips and Fries - this has become a tradition at St. Florian for the children - they seem to look forward to this every year. Santa usually makes an appearance and this is the last full day of school before Christmas break.

January, 2010

Looking ahead into next year - We are planning a Family Fun Bowling Night on Sun. Jan. 17th tentatively from 6p - until 9p at Lynwood Bowling alley - we had alot of fun last year with this event - please mark your calendars for this event as it will be here faster than we want it to be.

Sunday - Jan. 31st will be Catholic Schools week kick off, of course starting with  Pancake Breakfast and our Annual Book Fair.
