Incredible Kid Day

St. Florian Parents' Club will be hosting an end of the year picnic. The event is free for all St. Florian School, students, teachers and volunteers.

Our Third Graders make First Holy Communion, Sunday, April 29. at 10:30 am.

Confirmation Mass is Saturday, May 5 at 4:00 pm.

Instruments of Torture.

St. Florian Youth Group will host Fr. Terry Deffenbaugh

( A well known youth minister in the Archdiocese of Chicago ),

who will show and demonstrate: The Instruments of Torture used in the crucifixion of Jesus.

The presentation is open to teenagers and adults and is
mandatory to all students making Confirmation.

Paper Recycling:

During the months of February & March, the school will receive additional cash if we exceed tonnage collected for the same period last year by 25 %. Deposit newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, office papers, and mail in the recycling bins located in the school parking lot. Remember NO cardboard or plastic!

100th Anniversary Meeting:

The Next Can day is Friday, Nov. 17, 2006

We ask that each student bring 24 empty crushed aluminum cans to school on the days listed below. For bringing the cans or $1.00 cash, students may dress down for the day. Thank you for your cooperation. Proceeds from the recycling program benefit our school.

APPROPRIATE ATTIRE ONLY!

No cut-off or short shorts.
No torn jeans. No tank tops.
No explicit T-shirts or sweatshirts.
No sandals.

Bulletin Insert,August 27, 2006:

100th Anniversary News: We are excited about opening another school year this week. This year, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of St. Florian School (1907-2007)! Many activities are planned, including an all-school alumni reunion. In order for this to be successful, many volunteers will be needed. A committee has already been formed. The next meeting is Wednesday, August 30th at 7:00 PM in Konsowski Hall. All are welcome to attend. If you would like to help, but cannot attend the meeting, give us a call at school.

Welcome Students and Teachers! Our staff will have three new teachers this year. Ms. Elizabeth Holman will teach first grade. She comes to us from St. Thomas More. The new third grade teacher will be Ms. Emily Yovich, from St. Stanislaus School. Mrs. Gerry Meany, also from St. Thomas More, will teach fifth grade. Ms. Michalik will move to eighth grade and Sr. Mary Margaret will join our office staff. You can meet our new teachers at Parent Night, Sept. 6th at 7:00 PM in the gym.

Advisory Board Members Needed: The school advisory committee is looking for new members. The advisory board meets monthly and helps the pastor and principal shape school policy. We are especially in need of people with marketing and fundraising skills. For more information, or to apply, please contact Mr. McKenna in the school office.

Student Registration: We are still accepting registrations for this year in all grades. Pre-school students must be 4 yrs. old and kindergarten students 5 yrs. old by Sept. 1st. Registration forms and tuition information are available in the office.

Bingo Resumes: Bingo resumes on September 10th. Doors open at 1:30 and the games begin at 2:30. The payouts are good and increase as more players join. In addition, food is served and pull tab games are ongoing. All games are played in our gym at 131st and Houston.
