Why does St. Florian School hold a raffle and silent auction?

A group of parents came together with a common goal. To offer school parents another way of reaching their fundraising obligation for the school year. We came up with the March Madness Raffle and Silent Auction. The Raffle and Silent Auction has become the School’s largest fundraiser. In 2005, we raised nearly $15,000. But just as important, the auction is a way for families to work for a common goal not only to benefit us personally, but to benefit the long-term viability of our school.

How will this help us meet our fundraising obligation?

It works this way. We send home 10 raffle tickets (priced at $20.00 each) to each school family. Once you sell this initial set of 10 tickets, you have the option of receiving a $50 credit off of your fundraising obligation or you can use this toward eliminating a box of candy in the spring. For each additional set of 10 tickets that you sell, you will receive $100 off your mandatory fundraising obligation.

Where does the money go?

All money raised this year will go toward textbooks for grades 5th through 8th. Unfortunately, some of our textbooks have not been updated since the early 90’s. The book fees we pay at the beginning of the year simply cannot keep up with the rising costs of these publications.
